Monday Rambles

It’s been awhile since I rambled. So.

Aarti is hosting a fantastic challenge the week of September 23rd.

Click the pic and join in. I’m planning on reading Kindred by Octavia E. Butler. Been meaning to read more by her anyway, so this is great timing!

I read the first two books in the Spiderwick Chronicles series yesterday. Wow, are they good or what? And the art is gorgeous! If my daughter wasn’t such a chicken, I’d read them with her. Hopefully when she’s gotten a little older… and there is always my son. He’s not a big scaredy cat like her!

I made a pumpkin dump cake last night. You know, getting in the spirit… It was SO GOOD, especially the little section I sprinkled a bit of bacon bits on… *gasp*

Y’all. I read (or, rather, listenend) to a very…interesting story one day this week. It was a 45 minute long audiobook of one of Roald Dahl’s adult stories, called The Bookseller. I just looked it up and omgosh it was published in Playboy. Does this tell you anything? The Roald Dahl who wrote James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and MATHILDA, wrote for Playboy. It’s the first time I’ve read not-for-the-kiddies Roald Dahl, so I was a bit flummoxed. It left me feeling like this:

and also:

But more on that later.

I wish someone had told me what you can find if you search for gifs. Oh my goodness. *blush* It’s definitely not all

although it feels kinda like that.

I'm still trying to convince myself that bacon bits on pumpkin dump cake is good :p I'll take your word for it for now :p And I've been thinking of what to read for that challenge and Kindred sounds good!

Hey! Don't knock it til you try it! lol It isn't overtly BACON, it's more a subtle salty bacon. So so so good.

Kindred sounds awesome! I think I'm going to start it today. :)

I've heard Dahl's adult stuff is very adult. Are you going to review it here?

  3. I'm hoping to participate in the more diverse universe but will need some help with titles as fantasy isn't my go-to genre. Hmmm…haven't read Dahl's adult books. Not sure I want to? Curious though!!

  4. Yea, I’ve heard that Dahl’s adult stuff is most certainly not for the kiddies. I’m curious.
The pumpkin and bacon bits things sounds most interesting. Is it on pinterest?
