Andi (from Estella’s Revenge, of course, my partner in all crimes) and I had decided to read North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell together, since we’ve been reading lots of them together this year. We have THE. BEST. TIME. you guys. Seriously. SO, we decided we had to try some of Mrs. Gaskell. Andi posted about it on Twitter (the root of all evil) and on her blog and it was unanimous. We had to go with North and South. It also turned out a few people wanted to read it with us! Huzzah! We have a Readalong! And when it is all over I will finally be able to indulge myself and watch the miniseries. Richard Armitage! Can I get a woot?

We’re using GirleBooks edition of North and South, but really, any will do. We just love us some GirleBooks! And it’s free!

As I told Andi on twitter, I am unofficially joining you. North & South is a favourite of mine and I can't wait to reread it again! I'm not sure if I'll be able to commit to the schedule though, but I'd love to do multiple posts so I'll try (I'm just bad with reading on schedule right now). Will you also be watching the mini-series? Because it's such a great one!

I'm at the halfway mark of North and South now – my first Gaskell novel. It's been a combination read (GirleBooks) / listen (audio narrated by Juliet Stevenson) and I'm loving it! It will take me well into August, so I'll try and jump in toward the end.
I've already reread North and South this year, but, I love it so much I may just try to read it again for fun!!!
I have read the book relatively recently so probably won't readalong right now, but if you are going to schedule a couple of dates to watch the mini series I will absolutely try to join in on that! Mind you, I will have to force myself!

Just ordered my copy yesterday — looking forward to this! Gaskell is totally new to me, so should be fun.
