Wednesday: Mid-week Audiobook Week Meme
This will not be up until the morning of Wednesday, June 27th, but it will be short and fast, so check in and join the fun.
Current/most recent audiobook:
What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty, read by Tamara Lovatt-Smith
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, read by Jennifer Ikeda
Yes, I am listening to two audiobooks.
Impressions:
What Alice Forgot: The story is sort of getting on my nerves, but Lovatt-Smith is pulling me through. She has a lovely voice, even if she doesn’t change it for characters.
A Discovery of Witches: I’m rereading this to get read for Shadow of Night (WHICH CAME IN AUDIO IN THE MAIL YESTERDAY! WOOT! Sorry.) and I actually think I’m enjoying it more than when I read it. I love the way Jennifer Ikeda reads and her characterization.
Current/most recent favorite audiobook:
It’s hard to pick; I’ve loved all the audiobooks I’ve finished this year. My favorite for the year remains Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.
Favorite narrator you’ve discovered recently:
Wil Wheaton! I’ve listened to two books this year that he’s read (Ready Player One and Peter & Max by Bill Willingham) and I just loved his reading.
One title from your TBL (to be listened) stack, or your audio wishlist:
Oh my gosh, there are so many! And Audible has a $5 sale going on! Eek! Okay, first one that comes to mind is The Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon. I’ve been wanting to reread it for forever but the only audio available was abridged. An unabridged version has finally come available. It’s read by a new-to-me reader; David Colacci. I hope it’s good! I LOVED that book.
Your audio dream team (what book or author would you LOVE to see paired with a certain narrator, can already exist or not):
Oh my gosh, I can’t even think. I’ll listen to anything read by Neil Gaiman, Wil Wheaton, Jennifer Ikeda, Nick Podehl, MacLeod Andrews, Angela Dawe, and on and on and on.

I already read SHADOW OF NIGHT, but I think I'm going to have to re-listen to both of those books before the third one comes out.
I was just at that $5 audible sale last night
Ready Player One should get some sort of award for the most mentioned audiobook this week!! I'm loving audible's $5 sale.
I had no idea Will narrated until this morning. I am SO jumping on that train. How many has he done?
I am beyond jealous that you have an audio for Shadow of Night. I really liked Jennifer Ikeda’s performance in A Discovery of Witches.
I also listen to two audios at once
One of my first audiobooks was A Discovery of Witches, and I have the egalley of Shadow of Night staring at me from my Nook right now. I really have to find the charger for that thing! I am also a Wil Wheaton fan. He reads a lot of John Scalzi's books, too, so you might want to check those out.
I generally have 2 audiobooks going all the time – 1 in the car and 1 on my phone.
I just grabbed A Discover of Witches from iTunes. It's their audiobook of the month right now so it's $5.95! I can't wait to read it.
And I just added Ready Player One to my Wish List. I had no idea Wil Wheaton was a narrator! (Under a rock I guess!)
Leigh Ann thank you SO much for mentioning DoW is on sale right now. Downloading as we speak.
)
I love Wil as an actor. I have to check this out. He has a great voice.
I love Wil Wheaton's reading of John Scalzi's books, particually Agent to the Stars, which is all sorts of fun. I haven't listened to Discovery of Witches, but I keep hearing about it, and I also just received te sequel. I hope someday to manage to give it a listen. Right now I'm booked with audios for most of July.,
There is a $5 sale????? They didn't tell me. I looked on my audible account and there isn't a banner for it. Communists!

You totally sold me on listening to Discovery of Witches even though I own the book! Yay!
