It's Monday! What Are You Reading This Week?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading This Week? is a weekly event to list the books  finished last week, the books currently being read, and the books to be finish this week. It was created by J.Kaye’s Book Blog, but is now being hosted by Sheila from One Person’s Journey Through a World of  Books.

If my reading this weekend is any indication, I won’t be reading much of anything this week! I was in a brain fog, couldn’t focus on anything more complicated than magazines and television. I think I’m so excited that RIP is starting on Thursday and I know all I want to read is books for that. Plus, I know I have a copy of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern winging its way to me and I seriously can’t wait to get started on it. So I may not be reading much until Thursday.

Since I couldn’t seem to get into any books this weekend, I used the time to make my RIP pool. See:

I have:

The House at Riverton by Kate Morton
Daphne by Justine Picardie (group read with Debi, Chris, Ana and Kelly)
The Seance by John Harwood (only been trying to read this during RIP forever)
Will Storr vs. the Supernatural by Will Storr
The Nature of Monsters by Clare Clark
Beyond Black by Hilary Mantel
The Heretic’s Daughter by Kathleen Kent
The Map of Time by Felix J Palma
Ghostwalk by Rebecca Stott
In the Devil’s Snare by Mary Beth Norton
The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters (I’m itching to reread it for some reason) (oh, cause it’s awesome)
The Sister by Poppy Adams
The Monsters: Mary Shelly and the Curse of Frankenstein by Dorothy Hoobler
The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher by  Kate Summerscale
Inamorata by Joseph Gangemi

Not picture are The Night Circus, which hasn’t arrived yet, and The Lantern by Deborah Lawrenson, which I haven’t bought yet, but will be reading with Carl, Kelly, and whomever signs up for the group read. To say I can’t wait for Thursday is an understatement. RIP always signifies the beginning of my most favorite season.

So, how about you? I hope your attention span is better than mine and you’re getting some reading in. What’s good? Are you reading for RIP? What’s in your pool?

  1. I made my reading pool, too. I just haven't posted it yet. I am looking forward to The Lantern. I have to buy a copy. I am almost done Daphne and it was really quite good. I look forward to seeing what you, Ana, and Chris think of it. I hope you find something to attract your reading attention again soon!

  2. I think I've made my pool but I generally also find more once reviews begin! lol I have some "rereads" as back ups if I find the pool not keeping me captivated.. just waiting for the rip announcement and Icon before I post the pool …I have really come to like gothic mysteries! i've read the House at Riverton and the Little Stranger and I have the Map of Time, I hope it's good!

  3. What is this RIP reading?

  4. Oh crap! It's RIP time already! I need to get my buns over there and sign up because I can't WAIT! Great pool of books. I started The Night Circus last night (taking it slow, don't worry). :)

  5. I'm so with you!! So freaking excited about RIP :D And that's a great pool that you have!! I haven't heard of half of them! Which is always a good thing, because now there are more books for me to discover :p

  6. I didn't get to read much over the weekend because we were busy. College football will cut into next weekend. Good luck with the challenge!

  7. The Heretic's Daughter is a grim, grim book. I liked it, but it's a bit slow in spots. And it's depressing as hell.

  8. You have a great list! I really, really enjoyed Will Storr v. the Supernatural and would love to read it again (I think I loaned it to my brother-in-law, though). I thought it was much better written and explored than Mary Roach's Spook. I also once had a copy of the Norton but can't remember if I ever read it, though I should have if I haven't. I wonder where it got off to?

    Happy reading!

  9. The House at Riverton is on my list too! And I also hope to read The Night Circus and participate in The Lantern read-a-long!

  10. Ooh, I love the cover for The Seance. I'm going to have to look that one up!

  11. The Monsters sounds like a good read. I've seen it on a a couple of lists.
