It's Monday! What Are You Reading This Week?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading This Week? is a weekly event to list the books  finished last week, the books currently being read, and the books to be finish this week. It was created by J.Kaye’s Book Blog, but is now being hosted by Sheila from One Person’s Journey Through a World of  Books.!

Wow, y’all, what a week! I was so busy last week! I came home every night from work to do more work. Getting the house ready for the Mother’s Day cookout we didn’t get to have yesterday (weather), plus getting the garden ready left this girl too tired to blog! I was almost too tired to read! Thank God for bath time, or I would never get any reading in!

I managed to finish A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness last week. I have a few problems with it, but I enjoyed it. I want to read the next one for sure! More on that soon.

I started listening to Oryx & Crake by Margaret Atwood. I’m about halfway through with it. You may remember, Atwood was on my list of to-be-read this year AND since I have tried her in print repeatedly with little result, I thought I’d try audio. I’m confused as hell, but I *think* I actually started enjoying the book yesterday while I was working in the garden. It COULD be I’m enjoying Campbell Scott reading it to me, we’ll see. He has a NICE reading voice.

I am currently reading Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett on ye olde Jackson Wilkie Fitzgerald Owens (my nook). After two huge chunksters, I was ready for something light and easy on the brain. Plus, I adore Pratchett and was feeling a little homesick for Discworld. I am so glad I have so many more books by him to read!

Up next? Your guess is as good as mine? I brought home a TON of books from a local book sale this past weekend, so I definitely have plenty to pick from. Want to see?

Click to embiggen…

I got 21 books for about $60. Not too shabby, especially as most of them look brand-spanken-new! Where would you begin?

How was your reading week? What was good? What wasn’t? How ya doing?

Oh, and did you notice the new template? I’m quite pleased with this one; I think it’s a keeper!

PS: I’ve been made aware of the commenting problem. I *think* I’ve fixed it. Can you hit me up and let me know? Thank you! :)

  1. I am excited to read more Pratchett, too. I pick up whatever they have at the second hand store by him, so it means I just have parts of series. I do have the book that comes after Equal Rites, but I don't have the third one yet. I spent a bit of time figuring out just exactly where I stand the other day and then made a list of what I own so I could remember when I am at the bookstore.

Margaret Atwood is hit or miss for me. Sometimes, I can't get into her books at all, but other times they seem to click. I have really only liked Oryx & Crake, The Year of the Flood, and The Handmaid's Tale (though this book took a couple attempts before it clicked with me).

I never know what to read. I finished the new Arthur Slade last night, so I just sort of stared at my shelves trying to decide what to read next. I haven't entirely decided. It will be anyones guess what I pick up to read in a bit. I was considering the new Susanna Kearsley, but that can change.

  2. Atwood is hit or miss for me, too. I have to be in just the right mood for her stuff. Toootally want to read A Discovery of Witches, but I think my belated Mother's Day download is going to be The Peach Keeper. Squee!

  3. Those books do look brand new! I'd start with One Day since that movie will be coming out this summer.

  4. She

I do hope you end up liking Oryx and Crake as Year of Flood is fantastic.

  5. I LOVE the new look of the blog :D So clean and chic :) I REALLY need to get cracking on A Discovery of Witches!! Got to page 200 today, lol.

  6. Oh, I do like this new template!

It's nearly time for me to continue on my quest to read through Discworld in order. I think I am up to Guards! Guards!

  7. Love the new template! That's a lot of new books. Have fun!
