Saturday Farmer's Market

Saturday Farmer’s Market is a new feature I started to showcase, well, gardens!  This summer especially, I have really come to enjoy everyone’s garden posts and I selfishly want to see them all, every week!  And as you all know, I’m all about the sustainable living!  So give me your garden photos, your gardening books you’re reading, even give me pictures of your Farmer’s Market loot from the week!  I want it ALL.

Y’all. The heat. Oh my goodness.  It is so unbearably hot here!  And the humidity?  You could give the air with a knife.  I love the South, but I like FALL in the South more.  Whew!

I mean, look at what it has done to my tomatoes!  Just LOOK!

The okra though? The okra is LOVING this weather!

and look! Our friendly neighborhood, uh, spider, was hanging around.  I wonder what he thinks of the heat…

Writing spiders are just so cool, yeah?  Well, I’m off to can some more tomatoes, make more apple cinnamon jelly and try to figure out how to make Asiago Peppercorn bread.  How is your garden doing this week?  Read any good gardening books?   I’d love to hear all about it.

  1. tennessee has been so ridiculously hot. then we got storms on Thursday which somehow managed to miss watering the plants on my balcony! and now it just seems hotter and humider…ugh.

  2. OK, well maybe my tomatoes are normal! One side of my plant looks dreadful (see my post this week), and I think it gets more sun than the other side.

    Happy canning and breading!

  3. Aw, your poor tomatoes!!! At least they still look like they're producing like crazy!!! I can't get over all of the tomatoes you have. I'm getting ready to plant my fall crop of tomatoes. Hope they do well! We don't get our first frost until late December, so it allows a fall growing season too! Love the okra 🙂 We're making a dish of smothered okra tomorrow with one of our freezer bags full!!
