is a few books. And, like most readers I know, I didn’t get many at ALL. In fact, I got two. Less than my hubby, less than my daughter and even less than my son; all of whom are NOT READERS. *sigh*
I put bunches on my wish list. I can’t understand why they don’t want to get me what I looooove. They get my hubby movies and games! Lots of movies and games! *sigh*
However, I did get LOTS of other fantastic presents!!!!! Clothes, coats (which I really needed), a new Lightwedge (Yes!! Finally!!), boots, Julie & Julia (which I have already watched and LOVED), and lots of little doodads in my stocking. And my kids got me things for the kitchen. Paula DEEN things. Like, a new rolling pin!!
I really need a bread cookbook.
The kids really racked up. Spoiled rotten, the both of them. And hubby too.
The new books in the house? Because I am totally jealous of my hubby and may just have to read his books too?
- House of Mystery Volume 1 by Bill Willingham and others
- House of Mystery Volume 2 by various authors (These two are mine)
- World War Z by Max Brooks
- The Living Dead by various authors
- Arkham Asylum by … I’m not sure who, it’s a graphic novel I got the hubby, it’s a 15th anniversary of the original.
- Locke & Key 2 by Joe Hill (which is sure to be absolutely insane. I have to read it) (Obviously, the last four are the hubby’s loot)
- And lots of science books for the daughter. Six years old and she is obsessed with rocks, science, space, animals, and the like. It’s so… surprising. And very, very cool.
I hope very much that you and yours had as wonderful a Christmas as we did.
Oh yeah, one last thing. My MONITOR died on Christmas Day. So, I may be missing from here and from your blogs for a few days. I had really hoped to use this weekend to catch up on my blog reading and commenting! I’m using the hubby’s laptop now (which is why there aren’t any pictures). My new monitor is SUPPOSED to be here Tuesday. Hubby let me order a new one! Woot!

I never get given books for birthdays or Christmas. I always get very jealous of people who get given piles of books! Okay, maybe not never. I did get two cookbooks, but really that's not the same is it!
My family's not huge on giving books for Christmas either. I got most of mine from my husband, and then I went out and splurged with gift cards the day after.

It's funny, I encountered the same thing. Not a book in my stash at all. But in the end I used the Best Buy gift card I got and put it towards a new Sony Pocket Reader so I did end up geting a bookish gift (even if I gave it mostly to myself, LOL).
I say take a few of the books listed above and read them, you can pretend they are yours as gifts

My lot usually say it's because it's quite hard to keep track of what I already have. I suppose it's the downside to having lots of books.
I didn't get any either, but I did get an ereader, so that probably counts
My family hardly ever gets me books because they think I'll have already read it.

I didn't get books either. Folks tell me "but you already have so many" or "I didn't know what to get you." To which I reply, "giftcard, baby, giftcard."
Silly non-readers!

Sorry you didn't get a lot of books. I only got one and a gift card, which is fine by me. I have too many books as it is. LOL But my husband doesn't really ever get me books because he says all I ask for is books, and he was shocked this year when I didn't.

I only got one book – a cookbook! I'd think it was a hint, but it came from my sister. I did get an amazon gift card, so I'll be ordering some books soon.

WOW…I never heard of the "lightwedge" but just googled it and it looks like a fantastic idea.

No books here, either. Although I did get oodles of B&N giftcards so I could buy a Nook. I guess I shouldn't complain…but just one book would have been so lovely.

I didn't get any books… I am used to it by now…

Oh too bad your monitor died but let's hope you get the new one soon!
Oddly enough I hardly ever get books for Christmas too. I haven't gotten any so far but I am still holding out that some late gifts may arrive

First things first. . I love your blog! Thanks for all the book updates, reviews etc. I also wanted to suggest a bread book. "Artisan Bread in five minutes a day" by Hertzberg and Francois.
Hoping the monitor arrives safely and quickly!

Ugh, I know! I never get many books for the holidays! It always bums me out because I think ohhh I'll get a TON of new books to choose from to read next year! I think my family thinks that I "already have enough books." No such thing, really!
