So many great book blogs, so little time!

It’s Book Blogger Appreciation Week, which I am sure (hope) you know.  Today being the first day, we are instructed to:

Monday September 14
The shortlists for the awards will be announced next Monday, September 7th.  The first day of BBAW, Monday September 14th, we encourage you to write a post thanking and spotlighting your favorite blogs that didn’t make the shortlists.

To start things off, there is one main blog blogger who I owe pretty much everything when it comes to book blogging.  I starting blogging because of her.  Many, MANY of the books I have read have been because either she read them and loved them or she pestered me until I read them myself.  She pushed me to read beyond my boundaries, to explore new mediums, new genres, and my reading world has grown exponentially.  She’s helped me with reviews, with interviews, with writing, with blogging, with life.  We’ve become best friends, reading twins, co-editors of a (now defunct *sob*) web zine together. We’ve complained about boyfriends and husbands, we’ve sent birthday presents, baby presents, kiddie presents, and just random books we think the other should read.  Of course, I’m talking about Andi from Tripping Towards Lucidity and Estella’s Revenge. Geez.  I’ve almost made myself cry and I’m not even done yet.

Kailana of The Written World is next.  I’ve been following her blog for years and have really enjoyed reading her words.  She and I have a similar reading taste, so we’ve both added to our TBRs because of each other over the years.  Thanks to Twitter, we’ve become great friends this summer and she really means a lot to me.  It’s thanks to her that I will probably be reading a great deal more sci-fi than I used to and I’m so looking forward to it!

Next is Jenn at Jenn’s Bookshelves.  It is entirely thanks to Twitter that I know Jenn.  We meet there months ago and I have come to really enjoy her blog and just chatting with her.  We have an amazingly similar taste in books.  And I even had the HONOR of creating her banner for her when she moved to self-hosting.  We moved to self-hosting at the same time and it was so great to have someone to share in the growing pains of that experience.  She is a fantastic blogger and definitely worth a spot on your blogroll.

Here is another book blogger I know thanks to Twitter.  Rebecca of Lost in Books is the very FIRST book blogger I have ever met in person!  We met for dinner and book shopping and she was gracious enough to put up with my son!  Rebecca has one of the most eclectic reading tastes I have ever seen.  She literally reads across the board.  Her blog has a wealth of information about books from other countries, cultures and walks of life.  She has such informative blog posts and dude. She is a LOT of fun.

There are so many other blogs I could include here.  Galleysmith for her love of all things YA.  Nymeth for her amazing blog posts and for being one of the best blog commenters ever.  Beth Fish Reads for all the wonderful audio book reviews (not to mention the regular book reviews!).  Devourer of Books for her excellent book reviews and her gorgeous baby boy! Les at Lesley’s Book Nook because quite simply, I adore her, her blog, her gorgeous pictures and her entire family.  Bookfool at Bookfoolery and Babble because I adore her too, for her blog, her stunning photography and her sense of humor – which is sort of oddball, just like mine.  Stephanie at Stephanie’s Written Word for her beautiful blog posts, her brave, courageous fight with cancer and her push to make me get a mammogram, and for her just wonderful, gorgeous personality. And I dare not forget Melissa, the Book Nut.  She was a huge help to Andi and I while Estella’s Revenge was running and she’s my go-to-gal for YA and middle grades fiction reviews.

I could go on and on, geez, I have 304 feeds in my feed reader.  Everyone in this great big, huge, exciting book blogging community mean so much to me; I love all you guys.  So much.  Thank you all, for even the brief of moments you have touched my life, with your love of words and the telling of a good story.

  1. aw, that's so sweet Heather! I am glad we have gotten to be such great friends this summer. One of the many reasons my joining Twitter was worthwhile.

    Happy BBAW!

  2. Excellent post! I love the way you incorporated the screen shots! And you are so sweet to include me. You were one of my earliest visitors and although we've never met, I consider you a dear friend. I love your reviews, photography, recipes and family stories.

    Thanks for the virtual hug!
