Sunday Book Coveting

I’m going to do something a little bit different this Sunday.  Instead of posting about the books I’m coveting, as in books I want to BUY, I’m going to do the books I’m coveting, the ones I already own and really want to read.

Title: The Knife of Never Letting Go

Written by: Patrick Ness

Reason: I haven’t had this book very long, but I’ve been hearing so many great things about it. I actually checked it out of the library several times, even read about 5 chapters, but had to take it back unfinished.  I was intrigued by what I did read, so I’m anxious to get back to it.

Title: Tomorrow When the War Began

Written by: John Marsden

Reason: It’s been years since I first heard about this book. I think it was on Nancy’s blog (Bookfoolery & Babble) and I remember thinking I really needed to get my hands on a copy.  Then I promptly forgot all about it. Until a few weeks ago, when others began talking about in on Twitter and, voila! I remembered.  Unfortunately, my library doesn’t carry any of these series, so I bought the first one from Amazon.  And, as this post is starting to show, I apparently have a thing for dystopian novels.

Title: Life As We Knew It

Written by: Susan Beth Pfeffer

Reason: It’s Young Adult, it’s short, it’s the first in a trilogy and it’s dystopian. There seems to be a trend developing,  not only in my reading, but it YA literature!  Which is fine by me; I’m loving them all!  I’ve had this one for quite awhile and I even have the second one waiting to go too.

Also, isn’t that a great cover?

Title: The Chronicles of Faerie: The Book of Dreams

Written by: O.R. Melling

Reason: I love OR Melling. I mean love. Her writing is magical, in more ways that one.  When I saw that finally, finally the last book in her Chronicles of Faerie novel was finally going to be published in America, I had to get it.  I’ve had it since it was published and I don’t know what I’m waiting for.

So now, I ask for your help dear readers.  Which book should I read next? I have several ARC books I need to read, but I really want to read one of my own before I do.  I can’t seem to decide and I am afraid I feel a slump coming on, something I’ve avoided for most of the year. Don’t let it happen now! Please help!

I voted for The Knife of Never Letting Go, but Life as We Knew It is also really good. Both are also VERY dark, though – Life as We Knew It gave me nightmares, and that doesn’t happen very often.

I have a huge pile of books that I already own and I need to read! I don’t even want to think about how many! LOL!

I voted for Life as We Knew It because it was very good. Very confronting, and completely freaked me out about how unprepared I would be, but definitely a good read!

I voted for The Knife of Never Letting Go. I’ve heard the most about that one – I haven’t read any of the books on your list! I hope you don’t get into a reading slump though, they’re not fun.

I know how you feel – I have quite a few books I’d like to be reading right now, but I’m a monogamous reader.

I voted for The Knife of Never Letting Go; I’m thinking of buying and reading this book, maybe, but I’d love to hear one more reader’s thoughts before I do so! :)
