Gosh dang you Stephenie Meyer. Gosh dang you! I do not want to stop reading The Host, not even to eat, sleep or go to work and make gas money!
Goodness gracious but this is a page turner. I admit, I stupidly had my doubts. I guess I thought Twilight was a fluke, a lucky shot. The Host, however, may actually take Twilight’s place as my favorite Meyer.
Oh, if only I could go home, curl up on the couch and read! It’s the perfect day for it. The 98 degree heat has given way to cooler temperatures. The sun has relinquished it’s hold on the sky for the clouds and my kids are with their Nana. I could so finish the last 200 pages in a few hours! Curses!
Has anyone else read it? Was it as hard to put down for you as me? And what do you think of the story? Oh, wait, don’t tell me about the story until I’m finished! Ahh!

it was good. she's a great storyteller. i'd read her vampire/werewolf series and enjoyed her skill with those as well. my main problem with her is that she avoids sex between her characters. and i believe in a post-contact, post-apocalyptic world, that people would have sex sooner rather than later. if you liked the premise of two souls in one body you should read Dennis Danvers Circuit of Heaven, which is sort of similar, but much more fabulous, IMHO, than the Host. http://dennisdanvers.com/?page_id=11
Ha ha. I totally sympathize with your position. I read the book in two evenings flat. My sister-in-law took a day off of work to finish it. If only we all had that luxury! I'll be interested to hear how you like it. I have definite opinions about the ending. See my review here: http://thebluestockings.wordpress.com/2008/05/15/…
I had a hard time getting into it. Honestly, I was halfway through before I really started to care about what happened to the characters. It's not my normal type of read, but I really did enjoy it in the end!
Not yet, but I'm working on it. My local library has a copy, but for some reason they seem to believe in letting people other than me read stuff.
I haven't read any of her books but have been really curious about this one. Glad to hear it is good!
